So over the last 6-7 months the Clear Sky team have been all over the world completing a number of different aviation audits and training courses.

So what have we been doing and who for?

Cornwall Newquay Airport.

Over the last year and half we have been contracted to complete all of Cornwall Newquay Airports Ground Operations training so between Steve and Paul they have travelled down to Newquay two to three times a month to carry out all necessary training. The current contract is ongoing and therefore we look forward to continuing to support Cornwall Newquay Airport.

DHL Air.

We have completed a large number of audits for DHL Air including DAQCP, IFQP and Line Station Part 145/M audits. Steve completed audits at EMA, CIA, CVG, CDG, FRA, OTP & GVA.

Steve also took along two of our contractors to complete some on the job training at BCN & MAD where he carried out Line Station Part 145/M audits. John Shearer has since gone on to complete Line Station Part 145 audits at CDG & CGN.

Darren also travelled out to CIA to complete a biennial IFQP audit.

Flybe.

We were extremely happy to assist Flybe again this year in completing their DAQCP audit allocation. Our newly qualified DAQCP auditor Katrin Pattinson completed an audit at INN, whilst Darren managed to fit in both LIG and LRH in one trip.

It is worth pointing out that when we plan our audits we do try to limit the amount of trips we have to complete which ultimately saves the airlines we work for travel costs and in some cases we are able to get one airline to pay for the out bound travel and another airline the return journey. Whilst Steve was completing training down at NQY he was able to complete Flybe’s NQY DAQCP audit and also carried out pushback and towing training for Apple Aviation.

Cityjet.

This is our fourth year with Cityjet and again we have assisted them in completing their DAQCP audit allocation which took Katrin to MPL and Justin to SXB.

Jet2.

In past years we have completed a considerable amount of continuation training for Jet2 which came to end when they brought the training in house, so we were more than happy to support them again when we were approached to complete a number of IFQP audits. Steve took a plane and hire car to complete an audit at ILD and Justin revisited EGC to complete a second IFQP audit. We look forward to completing a number of audits later in the year for Jet2.

Eastern Airways.

Our relationship with Eastern stems back to the beginning of Clear Sky and we have always completed audits, training and given support and advice when needed. Also this year a number of the Clear Sky team assisted with the airlines IOSA preparations. Steve completed DAQCP & IFQP audits at ABZ & WIC as well as de/anti-icing refresher training at ABZ. Darren travelled all over the UK carrying out audits at NWI, MME, CWL, LSI & SCS. Lastly Katrin, flew to RDZ via ORY to complete the final DAQCP audit.

BMI Regional.

Sadly before the closure of BMI regional, again one of our longest serving customers Justin completed the mammoth travel journey to NRK and then onto KSD to accomplish two DAQCP audits. Katrin hopped over to ARN & CGN to complete the DAQCP audits which was in fact her checkrides which she needed to complete as part of her DAQCP auditor training.

Air Astana.

Steve and Justin did their annual trip over to our good friends in Kazakhstan where they visited KZO & GUW. As Steve is also a DAQCP evaluator he also oversaw two DAQCP trainees’ checkrides in ALA which we are delighted to say both trainees passed and are now fully qualified DAQCP auditors.

L3 CTS.

Earlier in the year we were contacted by L3 CTS to enquire about independent fuel and engineering audits. Of course we were more than happy to support L3 CTS and therefore Paul has currently completed audits at COV & BOH and Steve and Darren completed audits at SFB & JAX whilst they were in the States.

Guernsey Airport.

Recently Guernsey Airport contracted us to complete an independent de/anti-icing audit which was greatly received and has led to further assistance with the de/anti-icing operation.

De / Anti-icing Initial / Refresher Training.

This season we have completed a number of training courses at TAG Farnborough, Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Cornwall Newquay Airport and we are delighted to announce all attendees passed the final exam and have all received certificates.

Aviation Training.

As well as delivering de/anti-icing training we have completed Human Factor & EWIS courses for Airbourne Colours (Bournemouth) and towing training for Execjet who have recently set up a hangar for their private jet at EMA. Also, we have very recently sent Paul to NIS in Serbia to complete some de/anti-icing instructor training which was greatly received and all attendees came away competent with certificates issued.

Aviation Consultancy.

We are extremely proud to announce we recently signed a de/anti-icing consultancy contract with Virgin Airways and have assisted them with this seasons winter operations manual and given guidance and advice on all issues connected to de / anti-icing.

We have also assisted TUI UK and Audley Travel with third party safety advice specifically around their operations outside of Europe. We are also currently working on a project with Audley Travel to complete a large number of desktop audits again specifically their third party operators outside of Europe.

Our De/Anti-icing Aviation Testing Lab.

We have just completed our first season of testing de/anti-icing fluid and what a successful season it was!! Our viscometer has now been packed off to Brookfield for its first calibration and we can’t wait to get the lab coats on ready for the next winter season.
